Shin Ohtake's MAX Workouts

I just wanted to tell you all about MAX Workouts, a fitness program created by a guy named Shin Ohtake.
I haven't started on this program yet, as you might know, if you have been following me, but my plan was to start, when I had read his eBook, but until then I would do Gorilla Workout (an iPhone/iPad app).
I have just finished reading the book, consisting of 120 pages including pictures of the exercises you are going to do in the workout, but first I want to tell you how I got interested in buying this book :)
I was looking around on the web, searching for some workout programs and tips for doing body-weight strength training and cardio. I'm a student, and don't have much money after rent, food, etc has been paid, and have trouble finding a job.. So joining a fitness center isn'r really an option for me, as I can't afford, plus to be honest.. I don't really want to join a fitness center.. I would rather be able to workout whenever I find the time for it.
Well, I ended up on a website that linked to a Lean Body Quick Start guide made by Shin Ohtake, and the information I read made a lot of sense to me, partly also because I could confirm some of it from my Physiology classes from school.

So I started looking into the MAX Workouts a bit more, and decided, because of the price and what is included, to buy it.
So what is included in the product, you might ask, well let me tell you.
Well, it mainly consists of eBooks totaling a couple of hundred pages, and an optional website with videos and advice:

  • The 90-day MAX Workout program - The actual product you are buying, with the workouts, some background information about why you're actually going to work out the way you are.
  • A Muscle recovery guide - some might find it useful, though I'm not one of them.
  • The Lean Body Diet plan - helps you plan your meals and what to eat and what to avoid, quite useful if you want to lose weight or just live more healthy.
  • A 30-day trial membership to the MAX Workouts Club - provides videos of the various exercises, provides extra workouts, for when you've finished the 90-day MAX Workout program, and a forum.
That's what is included in the Basic package, but there are also a Deluxe and Premium packages, which include more, but you can have a look here (Men / Women) and see for yourself.
I am also receiving emails from MAX Workouts once in a while, with small reminders of some of the things in the program, like how to reduce muscle soreness and how to get the most out of the MAX Workout Club

The 90-day MAX Workout program include 4 levels, which all consist of 3 weeks each, as that is how long it takes for you body to get used to a certain program. So to actually see any progress, and not get stuck, you need to change routines and exercises.
The program is build on short high-intensity workouts, using compound movements (multi-joint exercises), instead of isolated exercises, which fits me just perfectly, as I can do the workout at home then.
These workouts take around 20-30 minutes, which means you don't have to workout for hours every day, but can cut the workout time down by half, if not more.. I find that highly appealing, and that is why I want you all to know about this program..

As I mentioned above, I haven't tried out this program yet, but I will as soon as I have tried out my current workout program some more. And I am really looking forward to trying it out.
If you have already tried it out, feel free to comment and tell me what you think of it.
