Getting ready for the new year

It's nearly 2014, and it's time for all the New Years resolutions.
Perhaps one of them is something like these statements:
"I want to be fit this year" or "I want to lose 10 kg / lbs"

If you can nod yes to these, then I want to give you a few suggestions to what you can do.

Winter = Bulk Season

"Winter is coming" to start out with a quote from the TV show Game of Thrones.
With winter almost upon us, many people are looking to bulk up, which means they are looking to add more muscle and size to their bodies. Winter often means cold weather, and with cold weather, we often dress ourselves in thicker clothes, which makes it harder to see whether our body fat percentage is 5 or 10, or 15 for that matter.
That makes it ideal to bulk up during the winter, since you need to have a higher caloric intake than if you're just trying to maintain weight or cut.

I'm back - kind of..

I'm back, after a few months of hiatus..

Let me apologize for not having written anything for a couple of months now, but it's not because I've been relaxing on the couch watching tv or partying all night every night, no I've spent and am currently spending much of my waking hours doing an internship at a Physical Therapy Clinic.
I'm done with the internship later this month, so when November hits, I'll be able to spend some more time on the blog.

My plan is to publish 1 or 2 articles per month after I finish my internship. There will be posts about workout ideas, nutrition (bulking/cutting), and much more.

See you in about 2 weeks time :)

How to get that V-shaped upper body

From Google images
So, you want that big V-shaped upper body, most men dream about ?
That is perfectly understandable, since most women's magazines have surveys stating that the most attractive part of a man's body is the wide chest and broad shoulders..
Heck, even some of my female friends have told me that that's what they look for in a potential partner..

Well, let me tell you how to achieve that :)

Creating the perfect weight training program

From Google images
Putting together the perfect weight training program really depends on your goals, be it strength or size (hypertrophy), though it isn't really that difficult to be honest.
In theory you can narrow it down to 4 different types of categories; Push, Pull, Legs, and Core.

If you've read any of my earlier posts, you know I'm all for compound and functional moves. So let me try and explain what the 4 categories mean and some great compound exercises for those categories.

Core training

You've probably heard a lot of the importance of having a strong core, no matter what you do, whether it be running, weight lifting, or just regular activities of daily living (ADL).

But what IS the core really?
My goal with this post is to educate you about the anatomy and function of the core, as well as give you some exercises for training your core.

Movescount.com review

Borrowed from http://suuntousanews.blogspot.dk/

In my last post, I gave you my first impressions of the Suunto Ambit watch I've bought, and one of the tools that goes with the watch is Suunto's online training diary/journal named Movescount. Since I've started using Movescount, I thought I'd write a little review of it.

Suunto Ambit (HR) - First impressions

I just bought the Suunto Ambit (HR) the other day, and thought I would share it with you guys.
I've had the watch for about 2 weeks now, so I haven't had a chance to test it out a lot, so I will write a more in-depth review later, after testing it out some more.

So far though, I have a few impressions I would like to share with you guys, but first, a few details about the watch..

The Suunto Ambit is Suunto's answer to a watch for the athletic outdoor explorer. It's really a watch meant for ultra-runners and the likes, but it can also be a watch for regular sports enthusiasts like myself.

Endomondo Sports Tracker – App review

I thought it was time for another iPhone app review, this time an app, I’ve had on my phone for over a year. I’ve used it on and off for some months, but now I’ve started to really use it again, though mostly for tracking my runs.

I’m talking about the Endomondo Sports Tracker app (PRO ver. 7.20).
I used to have the Free version, but there are some features in the PRO version, which I need for the training program I’m using (such as Interval training and Time goal).
The PRO version is also ads free, which is a huge bonus in my optics.

Both the Free and paid version of the app have a bunch of features, some which I don’t even use, so I’ll mainly review the features I use normally.
